(For information on manuscript editing and ghostwriting, see “Editorial Consulting.”)

As an editor, I’ve worked on everything from celebrity fluff to hardcore medical reporting to finely crafted personal essays. Launching a new magazine or SIP? I can conceptualize and develop a publication from the ground up. Need someone to fill in at an existing operation? I can drop in with virtually no prep and fill any editorial role.

From 2005 to 2008, I was a Deputy Editor at REDBOOK magazine, where I edited news features, sex & love, personal essays, and other topics, as well as developing books and digital content. From 1997 to 2000, I was an editor at the teen magazine Twist, where I was a member of the original launch team and edited literally everything. Over the years, I’ve also done work for a wide range of print and digital clients, including:

Weight Watchers Magazine (2009)

Edited all health and diet content for a national women’s health and weight-loss magazine. Developed eight new columns for 2010 magazine redesign.

Women's Health (2009)

Acted as executive editor for a national women’s health and wellness magazine.

Good Housekeeping (2009)

Edited parenting and psychology features for a national women’s magazine.

Match.com (2005)

Developed content for two dating websites, Happen and MSN Dating and Personals.

Quick & Simple (2005)

Member of the launch team for a new weekly women’s service magazine. Developed format and content for recurring columns; wrote and edited features.

American Express Custom Publishing (2004)

Served as editor-in-chief and managing editor for Dr. Phil: The Next Level, a monthly health and psychology magazine developed in partnership with author and television personality Phillip C. McGraw.

POZ (2003-2004)

For a national HIV magazine, edited single-topic issues addressing themes including heart disease, women and HIV, and new drug classes. Edited features interpreting the latest in HIV research and treatment for the lay reader.

Frederator (2002)

Consulted on the development of teen pop culture and entertainment websites for Primedia Inc.
